Meydan Building P
Meydan Building P sits within the broader Meydan precinct in Dubai — a master-planned racing-and-leisure district anchored by the Meydan Racecourse. ISG is engaged on Building P as Green Building Management and LEED certification consultant for the Design & Construction phase. The work is currently in progress, alongside Buildings N and Q in a coordinated three-building engagement.
The energy-modelling pipeline
The harder half of any LEED project in Dubai is the energy work. Cooling dominates the load profile, summer peak temperatures push HVAC well past temperate-climate baselines, and the credit framework rewards measurable energy reduction relative to a reference building defined by ASHRAE 90.1. Earning the higher tiers of the LEED Energy & Atmosphere category — the credits that move a project from Certified through Silver, Gold, and Platinum — requires a calibrated whole-building energy model.
For Building P, the modelling pipeline runs:
- Reference baseline — an ASHRAE 90.1 baseline model of the same geometry and orientation, with code-minimum systems, run on the same Dubai weather file as the proposed model.
- Proposed model — the actual design, with the specified envelope, glazing, lighting, controls, and HVAC. Iterated as the design develops to maximise the savings margin.
- Daylighting simulation — separate modelling for daylight autonomy, which earns Indoor Environmental Quality credits and informs both glazing specification and lighting controls.
- Validated submittal — both models, weather file, simulation outputs, and narrative submitted to USGBC for credit verification.
Mixed-use within the Meydan masterplan
Meydan's masterplan blends racing, hospitality, retail, and residential uses across a single precinct. Building P contributes to that mixed-use fabric. From a sustainability perspective, mixed-use buildings often present the most interesting optimisation problem: peak loads from different uses occur at different times of day, which — if the engineering is right — can be exploited to reduce the size of the central cooling and electrical infrastructure.
Why this is a portfolio engagement, not a one-off
ISG was engaged on Buildings N, P, and Q in parallel, alongside the wider Meydan Podium Development and the marquee Net Zero Meydan Parking project. Running multiple LEED submissions concurrently lets the consultancy carry credit interpretations, performance modelling assumptions, and contractor coordination strategies across the whole cluster — rather than re-deriving them building-by-building. That's how a 13-person consultancy delivers reliably across a multi-building portfolio.
